NPS / Point Reyes National Seashore Museum

The Point Reyes National Seashore Research Library contains over 600 books, research files, and audio-visual educational media and uses Library of Congress call numbers. The museum maintains the library reference collection with reference and resource materials relevant to the management of the natural and cultural resources of the park.

The library holdings also include two sets of research files with similar foci.

  • Published scientific literature and unpublished reports and studies arranged by BibKey number assigned in the NPS NatureBib blibliographic cataloging system. Check the NPGallery Digital Asset Management System for documents related to Point Reyes National Seashore.
  • Literature, pamphlets, webpage printouts, clippings, brochures, reviews, and other ephemera arranged by subject.

Start your research online using the links below. The library is open to the public by appointment for on-site research. To make an appointment, please contact the Museum Curator. As of 2021, the museum curator position is vacant.

  • Search the Point Reyes National Seashore Museum and Archives Research Library through the NPS LIBRIS online catalog. Use the acronym, PORE (for Point Reyes National Seashore), in the drop-down menu for "location" on the NPS LIBRIS catalog search page.
  • Many research reports based on studies in the park not found on NPS Focus may be available through the IRMA Portal.

The materials and books in the Research Library are only available for off-site check-out by NPS staff. If you are unable to visit the Point Reyes National Seashore Research Library, try searching on WorldCat for books in a library near you.
