  Juan Bautista de Anza led a diverse group of families (1775-1776) to establish Spain’s northern most colony in Alta California. Thus began San Francisco.  To hear more of the story, meet Walter Coe, park volunteer, at his drop-in interpretive session in the Presidio Visitor Center.
