![]() © 2015 2015 UCI Road World Championships Seeing the Race at the Park The races on Sept. 19-20 will pass through the Fort Harrison area of the park, on Battlefield Park Road between New Market Road and Route 5. The park will remain open, with the opportunity for visitors to watch the race from the park on both days. On Saturday, the races start at 9:00AM. On Sunday, they start at 10:30AM. The races may pass through the park 30-60 minutes later. Visitors can park south of the Mill Road and Battlefield Park Road intersection and watch the Team Time Trial races from Fort Gilmer. Please note that Battlefield Park Road will be closed from Mill Road north to New Market Road (Route 5) during the actual race periods. Park rangers will have tents set up to offer visitors information about the park and its resources, including the Centennial celebration of the National Park Service. To access Fort Harrison on this weekend, the park suggests double-checking the road closures and recommends taking Interstate 295, Exit 22, New Market Road, north to the park.
Visiting the Park During the Race Richmond will host the UCI Road World Championships Saturday September 19 through Sunday September 27. All park areas and visitor centers will remain open, except for a section of Battlefield Park Road on September 19-20. During race days, many streets in the city of Richmond will be closed to vehicle traffic. The following directions are designed to provide easy access to the Richmond National Battlefield Park’s main visitor center at the Historic Tredegar Iron Works via major highways including I-95 and I-64.
