Gumweed (Grindelia subalpina) is an easy composite to identify in spite of its yellow disk and ray flowers. The white "goo" on the unopened buds and the curly involucral bracts (the tiny leaf like structures surrounding the unopened buds and on the backs of opened flowers) are easy identifying characteristics.
