Winter Tundra

a photo of Alpine Visitor Center in winter
Alpine Visitor Center in Rocky Mountain National Park and the tundra around it are under several feet of snow for most of the winter. In contrast, intense winds may sweep other parts of the tundra free of snow, providing areas where pikas can search for food.
