Introducing the Summer Recreation Series at Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site Cornish, NH: For the first time, Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site will offer visitors an opportunity to participate in historically inspired recreational activities at the park. Group recreation played a major role in the lifestyle of Augustus Saint-Gaudens and the Cornish Art Colony, forging camaraderie among its members and a sense of pride for their surrounding landscape. Come to the park and discover where the Saint-Gaudens' family and their friends played outdoor bowling and golf, went swimming and fishing and enjoyed other outdoor pastimes. Participation is included with the standard park admission fee. Weather conditions permitting, activities and dates will be as follows: Summer Recreation Series Evening Presentation Wednesday June 3rd, 6-7:30 PM, meet at the Visitor Center Join us for an introduction on the health and wellbeing of Augustus Saint-Gaudens and for an outdoor tour of the park site highlighting recreational points of interest. This evening event is free of charge. Outdoor Activities Try one of our outdoor activities inspired by those played by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and his friends. *Bocce Ball: Saturday June 6th, 2-3 PM and 3:15-4:15 PM Historic Nature hikes: Saturday June 13th, 2-4 PM *Badminton: Saturday June 20th, 2-3 PM and 3:15-4:15 PM. *RSVP is mandatory for these events. Scheduling changes and cancellations will be posted on the park website, www.nps.gov/saga, and our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/SaintGaudensNPS. The park will provide sporting equipment, instructions, and space to enjoy the activity of the day! Activities will last approximately 45 minutes. Guests are encouraged to dress in appropriate athletic attire and bring water. Space is limited, so register early! |
