The National Park Service is initiating a planning process to prepare a foundation document for Parkers Crossroads Battlefield, recently recognized as an Affiliated Area of the National Park Service. The Battlefield welcomes all interested persons to participate in this effort.

A foundation document identifies a unit’s core purpose and significance, it’s most important resources and values, and the interpretive themes that tell its unique and significant American story. As an affiliated area of the National Park System, the Parkers Crossroads foundation document will provide a basis for first steps in prioritizing planning and data needs that will guide the battlefield in future management decisions. It will inform future operational decisions by documenting what is most important about the unit and understanding what is needed to protect and preserve those assets.

There will be a foundation document public meeting at the Parkers Crossroad Battlefield Activities Building on Thursday, November 14 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. This meeting will be an opportunity to discuss the foundation document process with City of Parkers Crossroads and with National Park Service staff, and to submit your thoughts and ideas to the planning team. The Activity Building is located at Tour Stop 7, at 150 Federal Lane, Wildersville, TN 383880.

To provide feedback online go to: http://parkplanning.nps.gov/Parkers_Crossroads_FD before November 20, 2019. Your participation is essential to the success of this process and will help guide the development of the foundation document for Parkers Crossroads Battlefield.
