Official Logo Use (NWT)

The official trail marker insignia, or official trail logo, for National Water Trails may be used to mark officially designated National Water Trail sites, route segments, on publications and other materials, and for other official uses.


Official Logo Use


The National Park Service encourages the appropriate use of the logo by designated National Water Trails management entities and partners. However, the trail logo is a protected federal insignia under 16 U.S.C. §§ 1241, et seq. and 18 U.S.C. § 701 and is a federally-owned trademark either under common law or 15 U.S.C. §§ 1051-1129. The trail logo cannot be used without the permission of the National Program Manager, National Trails System, National Park Service. For permission to use the logo, please contact us.
