Buck Island Reef National Monument is located about 1.5 miles north of Saint Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The monument protects Buck Island, a small, uninhabited 176-acre island, as well as the surrounding elkhorn coral reef ecosystem. The monument supports a large variety of terrestrial and marine plants and animals, including endangered and threatened species. Visitors to the monument snorkel or scuba dive a famous underwater trail, swim in the crystal clear waters, or hike an overland nature trail and the white coral sand beaches.
