The Natural Resource Condition Assessment (NRCA) Program provides framework, funding, and publishing support to parks to aid in the synthesis and documentation of natural resource conditions. Condition assessment reports are a tool to describe selected park resources, and record a snapshot of their current condition, identify trends, and identify potential or current threats and stressors. Understanding the condition and trend of natural resources is key for parks and NPS planners to appropriately prioritize and allocate stewardship resources.

Located on the border of southwest Washington and northwest Oregon, Fort Vancouver National Historic Site consists of two units. One unit, located in Vancouver, Washington, preserves Fort Vancouver and its evolution from a frontier fur trading post to a powerful military legacy. The second unit, located in Oregon City, Oregon, preserves the former residence of John McLoughlin, who led the Fort and provided aid to American settlers in the area. Visitors to the 207-acre park can explore a reconstruction of the Hudson’s Bay Company’s Fort Vancouver, the U.S. Army’s Vancouver Barracks, Pearson Air Museum, and the McLoughlin House.
