The Natural Resource Condition Assessment (NRCA) Program provides framework, funding, and publishing support to parks to aid in the synthesis and documentation of natural resource conditions. Condition assessment reports are a tool to describe selected park resources, and record a snapshot of their current condition, identify trends, and identify potential or current threats and stressors. Understanding the condition and trend of natural resources is key for parks and NPS planners to appropriately prioritize and allocate stewardship resources.

Located in central New Mexico, Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument showcases Native American pueblos and 17^th-century Spanish missions, a reminder of the early contact between ancestral Puebloan people and Spanish Colonials and their missionary efforts. The park’s three distinct sites each contain the ruins of a mission church and pueblos. The 1,077-acre park is situated in the foothills of the Manzano Mountains. Vegetation consists of pinyon-juniper woodlands in the lower elevations that are cut with canyons and rocky outcrops. Visitors to the park walk interpretive trails, visit museums, and view scenery like that from centuries before.
