The Natural Resource Condition Assessment (NRCA) Program provides framework, funding, and publishing support to parks to aid in the synthesis and documentation of natural resource conditions. Condition assessment reports are a tool to describe selected park resources, and record a snapshot of their current condition, identify trends, and identify potential or current threats and stressors. Understanding the condition and trend of natural resources is key for parks and NPS planners to appropriately prioritize and allocate stewardship resources.

Located on the north side of Saint Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve documents the human and natural world in the area from early Caribbean history to present day.
Archeological sites and ruins are found scattered within the vitally important ecosystem of mangroves, estuary, coral reefs, and submarine canyon. Visitors to the park scuba, snorkel, kayak, and hike as they learn about this important cultural and natural place.
