Hardscrabble: the log cabin Grant built

Grant moved his family to a log cabin in late 1856. Within three months, Julia, displeased by the living conditions at “Hardscrabble,” moved the family back to White Haven.

Hardscrabble, Ulysses S. Grant's log cabin, is situated on "Grant's Farm," now a privately-owned estate adjacent to Ulysses S Grant National Historic Site.
