Oak Ridge: Explore A.K. Bissell Park

Located in the heart of Oak Ridge, A.K. Bissell Park offers a paved 1.25 mile walking loop on 38 acres of land. The park includes a picnic shelter and performance pavilion where visitors can enjoy various special events throughout the year. In addition, the park is home to the Oak Ridge Public Library and two sites related to the Manhattan Project. The International Friendship Bell, an 8,000 pound bronze bell that commemorates peace and unity between the United States and Japan and the Secret City Commemorative Walk, a series of plaques and memorials dedicated to the founding of Oak Ridge during the Manhattan Project, are both found at A.K. Bissell Park.
