Living History Demonstrations

NPS Photo
Living history demonstrations are conducted on select Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year. Park staff and volunteers dress in colonial period clothing and demonstrate skills and trades of Frederica's settlers: blacksmithing, dyeing, weaving, soldiering, and more. This is a great opportunity to learn more about daily life during the British colonial period of Georgia.
Planning a visit in December? Fort Frederica National Monument hosts an annual celebration of James Oglethorpe's birthday. A founding trustee of Georgia, town planner, and general of the British forces, James Oglethorpe played a vital role in establishing the colony of Georgia. This event consists of living history demonstrations, a program on James Oglethorpe and his impact, and a formal toast to the General.
Want to know if there will be a living history demonstration when you visit? Monitor the park's social media for updates on events. Or call 912 638-3639 and speak with a ranger during visitor center hours (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM).
