Learn about and explore a Nike Missile site in the Marin Headlands.
Visit a Cold War museum in the heart of the Marin Headlands. During the tense years of the Cold War, from 1953 to 1979, the United States Army built and operated close to 300 Nike missile sites in the United States.

Accessibility Information
Nike Missile Site Accessibility
- There are usable parking available one site. The area is paved and generally flat, but is not striped.
- There is an accessible portable toilet available in the front of the parking area.
- All tours are guided by a park employee, docent, or volunteer. These individuals will tailor the tours to the needs of the visitors.
- ASL interpreters are available on request, with 5 days advanced notice.
- All the buildings are generally accessible to visitors with mobility disabilities.
- Some portions of the buildings do not provide adequate turning space for visitors who use wheelchairs.
- There are two military trailers that are not accessible to visitors who use wheelchairs. The trailers are extremely compact. However, visitors are able to view inside from the entry doors.
- Some routes throughout the site contain cross slopes greater than 2.08% and changes in level that exceed 1/4". The route leading to the Generator building has a running slope of 7.5%, proceed with caution.
- Some of the exhibits are tactile, including a scale replica of the missile.
- There are accessible picnic tables on site.
