Oak Ridge: Enjoy the Community Swimming Pool

NPS/KLEIN
Constructed in 1945 for Manhattan Project workers and their families to enjoy the cool water on a hot summer day, the Oak Ridge Community Swimming Pool has remained a popular feature of the secret city ever since. The outdoor pool holds approximately 2.2 million gallons (8 million liters) of water, making it one of the largest spring-fed pools in the United States.
