Thing to Do
Paddle Long Pond

NPS
Paddle the longest pond in Acadia! Head to the less-busy east side of Mount Desert Island and explore this four mile long lake. Tucked away from coastal wind, Long Pond offers a place to paddle without ocean tides.
The boat launch at the south end of Long Pond includes limited parking next to a small, sandy shore. There is also a public boat launch on the north end of Long Pond, outside of park boundaries. Please note that nearly half of Long Pond's shore is on private or local land outside of Acadia and may not be open to public use.
Everyone must have their own life vest (PFD) when boating in Acadia. Children 10 years old or younger must wear their life vest at all times while on board.
