Create unforgettable family memories in one of the Blue Ridge Parkway’s most popular campgrounds. Whether you spend one night or an entire weekend, there’s plenty to see and do using the Mount Pisgah Campground as your base camp.
Mount Pisgah Campground is the perfect location to make life-long family memories. Pack up the pup tent and bring the s'more fixings. Camping fun and campfire excitement awaits. This campground is a great place to set off on a variety of hikes or to just sit and read a book. It has 128 campsites and is located at Milepost 408 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are 53 reservable sites and the rest are first-come, first-served. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers, and RV's. Each campsite has a picnic table, lantern post, and fire ring with a grill grate. Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station, bear-proof food storage lockers, and bear-proof trash cans. (Black bears do live along the Blue Ridge Parkway and near the campground. Be sure to follow all food storage regulations while staying in the campground.) There’s a campground amphitheater, a nearby picnic area, and trails. Firewood and sundries are available for sale at the camp store across the Parkway. Campground Hosts have a designated campsite to assist with questions and problems. Leashed dogs are welcome. The campground is open from May – October.
Activities include seasonal interpretive hikes and campfire programs, hiking nearby trails, bird watching, photography, picnicking, stargazing, and access to nearby national forests. This area has a high number of waterfalls that are easy to view, scenic vistas that are some of the most delightful views along the Parkway, an abundance of wildflowers that create a crazy quilt of colors, and fall leaves bursting with orange, yellow, and red turning the landscape to an artist’s palette. The Pisgah area of the Blue Ridge Parkway is at an elevation of over 5,000 feet. The campground is perpetually cool because it is shady and woody. It’s a vast relief in the summer and can be surprisingly chilly on a frosty spring or fall morning.
Pack your camping gear and head up to Mount Pisgah Campground to spend a night beneath the stars and around the campfire. Cook s'mores and do some hiking. A “family camp out” is the stuff memories are made of.
Camping is a time investment. Packing all the gear and supplies, traveling to the site, setting up camp, exploring the area by hiking or sightseeing, then packing it all back into the car and heading home again is time consuming. Allow yourself enough time to enjoy the camping trip by allocating the number of days you’ll need to really unwind and relax at the campground before heading back home.
Camping can be enjoyed by all ages.
Pets must be kept on a six-foot leash. Barking dogs may not be left inside a camper or in the campsite during the day. Dogs cannot be tied out on a lead where they can physically contact other campers or the road.
Campground fees are $20 per site per night.
Campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition, advance reservations can be made for 53 sites in the campground. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance by visiting www.recreation.gov or by calling (877) 444-6777. Reservations are not accepted for the final week of the season to accommodate possible early closing due to inclement weather. The campground often fills on weekends and holidays.
The campground is open seasonally from May through late October. Check the schedule of Operating Hours and Seasons for exact dates.
Campground roads and campsite parking areas are paved. Restrooms are accessible. The amphitheater is accessible. Some campsites are designated as accessible.
