Thing to Do
See the General Sherman Tree in Snow

NPS Photo / Junior A Tinoco
In winter, park at the winter Sherman Tree parking area on the Generals Highway just 2 miles north of the Giant Forest Museum. From there, it is a short, easy walk to the tree. Enjoy an up-close experience walking around the big trees. Snow and ice can make the trail slippery; wear sturdy shoes and hike carefully. Traction devices for your shoes may help prevent slips and falls.
