0.2 mile (0.3 km); out and back – paved, nearly flat


Feel the ever present prairie breeze as you follow the path to the edge of a plateau. From the viewpoint at the end of the trail, notice the stark contrast between flat plains and rugged badlands.

Boicourt Overlook

0.3 mile (0.5 km); out and back – gentle terrain


From a vantage point high atop the prairie, look for wildlife in the valley below. You may spot herds of bison or bands of horses. In the early morning and evening, elk travel between feeding and bedding locations.

Buck Hill

0.1 mile (0.15 km); up and back – steep grade, stairs


You’ll be on top of the world when you climb to the highest accessible point in the park. This is a short, but steep trail. The view from the top is worth every step.

Old East Entrance

0.8 mile (1.3 km); out and back – gentle dirt path

Follow the path of the original park road to the historic Old East EntranceStation. The trail passes through a prairie dog town. This area is very muddy when wet.
