Thing to Do
Stargaze at Spirit Mound

NPS Photo
Discover the Missouri National Recreational River after dark by stargazing at Spirit Mound Historic Prairie. The location of Spirit Mound allows visitors to step away from the light pollution of cities and into a space that shows the pristine night sky. While looking up at the stars and constellations, visitors can imagine how indigenous people and Lewis and Clark may have seen the night sky. The night sky has been used by many groups and cultures to not only guide us in our travels but to guide us through life and explain the phenomena around us. Night Sky Viewings are a great way to see the park after dark.
