Special Events

Special use permits are required for any group/organized activity that includes but is not limited to rendezvous & rallies, charity events, geology tours, sporting, and training events (e.g. cycling/running). If you are unsure if your event/activity requires a permit, please contact us.

Application Fees
There is a $100.00 non-refundable application fee. The payment is required and must be submitted along with the application. The application fee includes two hours of administrative time; including phone calls, correspondence, application review, and project consultation, scheduling park staff, permit issuance, follow-up, and billing.

All payments must be in the form of a cashier’s check, cash, money order, or credit card. Personal checks are not accepted.

Cost Recovery Fees
Most permits will incur some cost recovery fees. This amount is determined according to the complexity of the project.

How to Apply
Download, complete, and send in a Special Use Permit application. Special Use Permit applications must be received at least one month in advance and will be reviewed in the order they are received. All applications must be completed in detail and returned with the permit applications, highlighted map of area, and non-refundable application fee. A minimum of 4-5 weeks (depending on activity and volume of requests) is required to process an application and issue a permit. All activities requiring a SUP must be cleared through NPS compliance review process which may take longer than normal. Please submit requests in a timely manner. We will not “rush process” any requests.

Submitting Special Use Permit Applications may be done by email, mail, UPS, or FedEx.
