Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site (Hyde Park) is located in the town of Hyde Park, NY, approximately 5 miles north of Poughkeepsie along Route 9, midway between New York City and Albany, about a 1.5 hour drive from either direction. Located on the east bank of the Hudson River, the park is easily reached by either the Taconic State Parkway or Route 9, and the New York State Thruway.

 
 

Travel to Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site

  • By Car. Hyde Park is easily reached by the Taconic State Parkway and the New York State Thruway from points north and south. The park entrance is located on Route 9 at 81 Vanderbilt Park Road. Detailed directions are on our Driving Directions page.
  • By Train. Amtrak and Metro North Rail Railroad make stops at the Poughkeepsie station. Taxi service is available at the station.
  • By Air. Air travel to Albany International Airport or Stewart International Airport are the most convenient airports servicing the area.
  • By Bus. Bus service is limited. Dutchess County Public Transit operates a Poughkeepsie to Tivoli Route (C Route) with limited schedule.
