Multiple Runs Added Between El Portal and Yosemite Valley
Beginning May 16, Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System (YARTS), will be adding additional runs between El Portal and Yosemite Valley for the upcoming visitor season. YARTS provides bus service along the Highway 140 corridor from Merced to Yosemite Valley carrying park visitors and park employees. The service, which began in 2000, is designed to reduce private vehicles entering and exiting the park on a daily basis. YARTS also provides service over the Tioga Road into Mammoth Lakes during the summer season.
The added runs, originating from Cedar Lodge in El Portal, begin daily at 8:00 a.m. These runs are designed to carry visitors staying at Cedar Lodge and the Yosemite View Lodge, also in El Portal, into Yosemite Valley. This extended YARTS schedule will stop at all normally scheduled shuttle stops along Highway 140 between Cedar Lodge and Yosemite Valley.
Visitors staying in El Portal at Cedar Lodge or Yosemite View Lodge are highly encouraged to take the YARTS bus into Yosemite Valley. All bicycles, hiking gear, and other outdoor gear can be brought onto the YARTS buses.
All fares to Yosemite include gate fees. Bus service between Yosemite Valley and El Portal costs $7 per adult, $5 per child between the ages of 12 and 18. Children under 12 ride free with the purchase of one adult ticket. Senior discounts are also available. Family packages include three rides for the price of two ($14).
YARTS will continue this extended schedule until September 9, 2011. Please visit www.yarts.com for a full schedule of bus runs that YARTS provides in the Yosemite area.
