The CCC was a collaborative effort overseen by multiple federal agencies. Young men would join the CCC through the Department of Labor, which managed recruitment and enrollment. After joining, the men would be placed under the care of the Department of War, which ran a large portion of the program. The first stop was conditioning camps run by the U.S. Army. It was there that the men were physically examined, vaccinated, and clothed before being transported to their assigned CCC camps. ![]() Right image, ZION 7312: Often, the men who supervised the conservation work projects were National Park Service rangers.
