SPRINGDALE, UT – The Zion Mount Carmel Highway through Zion National Park has re - opened to all traffic. Late yesterday afternoon, and again this morning, the sand fall area along the Highway was evaluated by Park staff, and hazard geologists from the Utah Geological Survey.
Although sand and debris continue to fall, there is little chance for it to reach the roadway. As a precaution, Park road and maintenance crews have installed jersey barriers to help keep debris contained. Eastbound queue lines for thru traffic will begin further west of the tunnel to avoid stopping near the fall site.
Before visiting the park, please check road and trail conditions and plan accordingly. For the latest news refer to the Park website, Twitter feed or Facebook posts.
