The following are upcoming special events hosted by Appomattox Court House National Historical Park.

May 8, 2024- Homeschool Day

Calling all homeschool groups! Join Appomattox Court House NHP for a day of activities. Participants are welcome to drop-in anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Students and their families will rotate through designated stations on their own timeline. Groups can explore an artifact station, test out Civil War era toys and games, learn about parole pass printing, examine solider life, sketch a scene like a Civil War sketch artist, and more! Ranger-led talks will also be available at 9:50 a.m. and 11:50 a.m.

May 27, 2024- Memorial Day Event

On Monday May 27, 2024, Appomattox Court House National Historical Park will offer special programming to examine the history and traditions of Memorial Day. All programs are free and open to the public. See the Event Schedule.

June 8-9, 2024- Living History Weekend- Appomattox 1861

Join Appomattox Court House NHP and the Liberty Rifles for a weekend-long living history event. The event will interpret the forming of the Appomattox Liberty Guard in June 1861. The event is still in the planning stage. Please check back for details.

June 20-21, 2024- Civil War Summer Camp

July 6, 2024- Civil War Base Ball

Join Appomattox Court House National Historical Park for a day of ‘base ball’ (spelled with two words in the 1860s) at your local National Park on Saturday, July 6. All visitors are welcome to physically join in playing a game of ‘base ball’ following Civil War era rules.
