Youth Conservation Corps Crews

Youth from ages 15 to 18 can join the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) crews during the summer months for learning and helping with maintenance work at the park. The YCC program is designed to promote historical preservation on our youth.

Youth applications will be accepted in the spring of 2024 for the summer of 2024. Positions typically run early June through July.
Details:
San Juan National Historic Site will be collecting applications for a possible 8-week job

  • All applications will be received between April 29 - May 6, 2024.
  • Applicants must be 15 to 18 years of age during the program to be eligible.
  • Ten applicants will be selected from a random drawing and will be notified of selection.
  • Applicants will work Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Positions are anticipated to start June 3 and end at the end of July 26.
  • Applicants will be required to provide their own transportation to and from their home to park Headquarters in Old San Juan, which will be their duty station.
  • Applicants will be transported from the duty station to the work site within the park. Supervision will be provided at all times.

Program - The Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) is a well-balanced work-learn-earn program that develops an understanding and appreciation in participating youth of the Nation’s environment and heritage. It is locally administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. YCC offers gainful summer employment to youth for approximately eight weeks, in a healthy outdoor atmosphere. Projects include building and maintaining trails, cleaning up buildings, painting of facilities, routine maintenance and other special projects. Participants will do hard physical work.

Eligibility - Young men and women, 15 through 18 years of age, are eligible for employment without regard to social, economic, racial, or ethnic backgrounds.

American Conservation Experience

Adults from ages 18 and 35 can join the American Conservation Experience (ACE) crews and work year-round learning and helping with maintenance work at the park.
