Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I walk or bike to Fort Point?

A: Yes. From Crissy Field - follow Marina Boulevard west along the shoreline past the Warming Hut to reach Marine Drive. From the Main Post - follow the the Presidio Promenade trail west along Lincoln Boulevard and take Long Avenue (on bike) or Andrews Road (on foot) to Marine Drive. From the Golden Gate Bridge Plaza - follow the Presidio Promenade trail east to the Battery East Trail and from there down to Marine Drive.

Q: How do I get to the Golden Gate Bridge?

A: If you're walking from the fort, follow the road to the Warming Hut. You will then see a trailhead next to some stairs on the right. This is the Battery East trail. Simply climb the stairs and follow the trail up to the Golden Gate Bridge Plaza.

Q: What services are at Fort Point? Is there any food available?

A: The fort has many programs and exhibits available when it's open to the public. Ask a ranger which tours are available when you arrive. We provide video presentations about both the history of Fort Point and the Golden Gate Bridge. Food can be obtained at the Warming Hut at the foot of Long Avenue and at the Golden Gate Bridge Plaza.

Q: Is the fort accessible?

A: Not entirely. Although the fort does its best to accommodate as many of its visitors as possible by providing exhibits and video content on the first floor, there is no elevator access to the upper levels of the fortification.

Q: How do I get a copy of my Incident Report (Police Report)?

A: See our webpage "How to Request a Police Report" for the process.
