Shootin' Star Trail

The Shootin' Star Trail starts near the Barksdale picnic area. While small patches of snow linger in shaded spots, the trail itself is clear of snow. Photo taken on 5/11/2024.

Sawmill Trail

The Sawmill Trail winds past a stand of Aspens near the Visitor Center. While the trail is dry in the vicinity of the Visitor Center, it becomes muddy in places further on. Photo taken on 5/11/2024.

Hornbek Trail

The Hornbek Trail is muddy near the Hornbek Homestead but gradually dries as it leads away from the wetlands and into the hills. Photo taken on 5/11/2024.

 

Current park operating hours:

• The park is open Mondays through Saturdays, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. The park is closed on Sundays until May 26th.
• The Barksdale Picnic area and trails are open for day use seven days a week.
• The Hornbek Homestead area and trails are open for day use seven days a week. The Hornbek Homestead Parking Lot is open at night for night sky viewing.
• Flush toilets are available at the Visitor Center Mondays through Saturdays from 9:00am to 4:30pm. Pit toilets are available at the Hornbek Homestead and the Barksdale Picnic area.
