Cadillac Summit Road Vehicle Reservations for Commercial Use Authorization Holders

 

Commercial Use Authorization (CUA) holders are required to have a commercial vehicle reservation to access Cadillac Summit Road from late-May to late-October. CUA vehicle reservations must be made on Recreation.gov by accessing the commercial site using the instructions below. 100% of the CUA vehicle reservations will be released for the season in late-February.

Taxi and Ride Share Services (non-tour) are exempt from the vehicle reservation system and CUA requirements.

To make your CUA vehicle reservation you will need:

  • A fully executed CUA, and
  • a verified commercial account on Recreation.gov.

How to Obtain a Commercial Account on Recreation.gov Once You Have a Fully Executed CUA

  • Go to Recreation.gov and click on Sign Up to create an account.

    • Complete all fields including name, phone number, and email.

    • The email you use to create this account must be used to make vehicle reservations for CUA activities only. It cannot be used to make vehicle reservations for personal purposes whether using a personal or CUA vehicle.

  • Recreation.gov will send you an email with a link to verify your account. Click on the link and follow the instructions to create a password.

  • Once your log-in/password are complete, log into Recreation.gov and go to your profile to enter your business address and save it.

  • Once you’ve completed these steps, email e-mail us to alert the Commercial Services office that the account has been created in Recreation.gov. In this email, you must provide the same email address used to sign up for a Recreation.gov account.

  • Commercial Services office will verify your commercial account on Recreation.gov and email you when your account has been verified.


Once you have completed this process, the following CUA vehicle reservations can be purchased on Recreation.gov:

  • CUA Holder Vehicle Reservations – Cadillac Sunrise (up to 21 feet)
  • CUA Holder Vehicle Reservations – Cadillac Sunrise (over 21 feet)
  • CUA Holder Vehicle Reservations – Cadillac Daytime (up to 21 feet)
  • CUA Holder Vehicle Reservations – Cadillac Daytime (over 21 feet)

CUA Vehicle Reservation Rules

Reservation Limits

  • Each CUA holder is allowed up to two Cadillac Sunrise - CUA Vehicle reservations per day.
  • Each CUA holder is allowed up to ten Cadillac Daytime - CUA Vehicle reservations per day.
  • CUA vehicle reservations may only be used to conduct business in the park. They may not be used for personal purposes whether in a personal or CUA vehicle.
  • Reservations are per vehicle, not per person.

Printed/Digital Ticket Required

  • Please print or scan a digital copy of the vehicle reservation with the QR code, which will be scanned to verify the reservation upon arrival. Connectivity is unreliable in the park.
  • You will also be asked to present your entrance pass upon arrival.

Entry Time

  • Cadillac Sunrise:
    • CUA Vehicle Reservations must enter the reservation area within 90 minutes of the start time shown on the reservation.
  • Cadillac Daytime:
    • Vehicles must enter the reservation area within 30 minutes of the start time shown on the reservation.
  • Reservations provide a timed entry, but do not require a departure time.
  • Reservations do not permit re-entry.

CUA Participants Traveling in Their Own Private Vehicles

  • Participants in a CUA activity who are traveling in their personal vehicles must purchase a separate private vehicle reservation per vehicle and have their own park entrance pass. Parking

  • Reservations do not assign a specific parking space.
  • Parking is prohibited outside of designated spaces.
  • CUA vehicles up to 21 feet:
    • Must use a standard parking space.
    • Use of the bus parking zone is prohibited.
    • Parking is available in two lots at the summit.
  • CUA vehicles over 21 feet:
    • Must use the bus parking zone.
    • Use of a standard parking space is prohibited.
    • Parking is available at the summit along the curb at the end of the outside loop of the east parking lot. CUA vehicles over 21 feet are prohibited from parking at the west parking lot.
    • Prohibited from entering the west lot (the Blue Hill Overlook).

Rules of the Road

  • The narrow, two-lane road winds to the 1,530-foot summit of Cadillac Mountain and has a speed limit of 25 mph.
    • Drivers should use caution when traveling the road and must give 3-foot clearance when passing bicyclists and pedestrians.
    • Paved pullouts are located along the road for short-term parking to enjoy the view. Do not cross the double yellow line to pull off on the opposite side of the road.
 

Taxi / Rideshare Services

  • Taxi and rideshare services are authorized to provide pickup and drop-off transportation services within Acadia National Park.
  • Vehicles must be identified as a taxi service or rideshare provider. Park entrance fees still apply.
  • If the taxi or rideshare service also provides tours (i.e. an itinerary is established, advertised as a tour, makes multiple stops, offers park information, stays longer at a location more than five minutes, etc.,) then a Commercial Use Authorization is required.
  • Taxi and ride share providers will not need a reservation to pick-up or drop-off passengers at the summit. The operator must be actively picking up or dropping off passengers at the summit.
  • A designated taxi stand at the summit has been established to provide temporary parking. The time limit to load and unload passengers is 5 minutes.
  • Taxi and rideshare services without a reservation are not permitted to stage or park anywhere else at the summit including the west lot (Blue Hill Overlook).
