In Big Creek, a dense forest has reclaimed the former site of a logging town where, today, visitors will find a shady campground and picnic area as well as access to several trails and a scenic creek that is the area’s namesake. This secluded area on the northeast edge of the park near the North Carolina-Tennessee border is known for its history, wildflowers, and numerous streams and waterfalls.
