Dangerous Roads

Park rangers enforce traffic regulations.

Every year park rangers investigate numerous motorcycle accidents. Unfortunately, a significant number involve fatalities.

Be alert for hazards

  • Wildlife may dart out from forest edges.

  • Other drivers may pay too much attention to the scenery and cross over the center line into your travel lane.

  • Other drivers may suddenly stop their vehicles.

  • Sleet and snow may fall on higher elevation roads during any month of the year.

  • Rocks, tree limbs, or gravel may be on roadway, especially after storms or high winds.

Tips for safe travels

  • Stay alert for hazards.

  • Wear brightly colored clothing or jackets to increase visibility to other motorists.

  • Carry raingear.

  • Check weather conditions for the area of the park you are visiting.

  • Secure your valuables when you are away from your bike.

  • Explore some of the lesser used areas to avoid the crowds.

State Laws Require

  • Wearing an approved motorcycle safety helmet.

  • Abiding speed limits.

  • Never passing on a double line.
