About the Artist

Alison Spain was an Isle Royale Artist-in-Residence from June 13th to June 28th, 2003. She was born in Buffalo, New York and is now based in Washington, D.C. She works primarily in painting and drawing, in which she received her MFA from Montana State University. She also works as Artist-in-Residence at College Park Nursery School & Kindergarten, where she develops visual curriculm such as a Coral Reef installation or collaborative weather collage.

In addition to being an artist, she is an educator, organizer, and mother of two boys. Learn more about Alison on her personal webpage.
