Contact: George Land, 760-367-5507 Joshua Tree National Park, Twentynine Palms, CA – The official reopening of the Oasis Visitor Center in Twentynine Palms will be celebrated on Saturday, May 16th at 10am. The festivities will include Native American Bird Singers, remarks by Superintendent David Smith and refreshments. Since December 29th, the visitor center and bookstore operations have occupied temporary accommodations at park headquarters while the building underwent a seismic retrofit. "We are really excited to be moving back into our home at the Oasis Visitor Center," says Chief of Interpretation and Education, Jennifer Albrinck. "We appreciate the public's patience and support while we worked to make our building safer and we look forward to seeing you soon."
The Oasis Visitor Center is located at the historical, "Oasis of Mara" and serves visitors at the north entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. Saturday's event is open to the public.
