Web Map Tools

NPMapJS

NPMapJS is a JavaScript web mapping library built and maintained by the National Park Service. It was originally built on top of the Leaflet library and is now being updated to use MapLibre GL JS. It includes enhancements made specifically for the National Park Service related to accessibility, usability, and graphic identity.

Park Tiles

Park Tiles is the web map data and cartography system for the National Park Service. It compiles large amounts of data from across the NPS and from other federal agencies where needed. Its suite of web basemaps is designed to fit the National Park Service’s graphic identity, and can be used as stand-alone reference maps, or as customized web maps with additional data overlays.

NPMap Builder

NPMap Builder is the front-end user interface that brings NPMapJS and Park Tiles together in one application and enables National Park Service employees to build beautiful, accessible, and usable maps for NPS.gov.
