Annual Junior Ranger Day at Alley Spring, May 4th, 2018: (9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.) Activities will include a short hike with Ozark Trail Volunteers, paddling skills presented by American Canoe Association instructors, and archery instruction provided by National Archery in the Schools certified instructors. Special exhibits will include presentations on caves, snakes, bears, butterflies, fish and much more. Presenters include Missouri Department of Conservation, Missouri State Parks, Missouri Stream Team, Dickerson Park Zoo, Ozark Trail Association, National Park Service, Master Naturalists, and Missouri State University. This project was made possible by a grant from the National Park Foundation through generous support of partners like Disney, the lead sponsor of Open Outdoors for Kids, and donors across the country. Big Spring Classic Auto and Bluegrass Music Festival, June 9th, 2018 (10 a.m. - 4 p.m.). Join us at Big Spring as we celebrate part of our American Heritage through the exposition of classic automobiles. Many of the vehicles that will be on display may have rolled through the hills and valleys surrounding Ozark National Scenic Riverways when Big Spring State Park was a popular destination for auto touring. Bask in the beauty of Big Spring and walk among classic vehicles, all the while listening to traditional Ozark bluegrass music. Music by The Baker Family, Local Connection and The Punch Family. BBQ and Ice Cream vendor on site. Free vintage car rides from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Classic auto awards, registration if free, cars up to 1964 invited. Alley Independence Day Celebration, June 30, 2018. Fourth of July picnics and other celebrations have been a tradition at Alley for over a century. Join us for the festivities from 6 p.m.-9 p.m., including live music and dancing to celebrate our country's birthday. Alley Spring is located 6 miles west of Eminence on State Hwy 106. A Haunting view of Alley Mill
Haunting in the Hills, October 12th and 13th, 2018 at Alley Spring. The Ozark past will come to life during this event featuring folkway demonstrations, storytelling, re-enactments, hands-on activities, food vendors, traditional dancing, bluegrass, and folk music. October 12th, 6 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Illuminated pathways will guide your way through Ozark legends, folktales, mysteries and superstitions presented in the age-old Ozark storytelling tradition. On October 13th from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. local skilled artisans will demonstrate their talents on a wide variety of traditional crafts. An Ozark Christmas Celebration, December 8th, 2018. Ozark National Scenic Riverways is hosting an old fashioned Christmas celebration for the public at the Alley General Store on Saturday, December 8th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Bring the whole family and your friends to view Alley Mill and the general store all dressed up in holiday decorations. Feast on cookies, cider and hot chocolate. Try out your creativity by making old-time ornaments that you can take home and hang on your Christmas tree to enjoy. If you'd like, bring a child's school photo to create a tree ornament. The free old-time festivities end at 2:00 p.m., so come early to allow plenty of time for cookie munching and ornament crafting.
