Joshua Tree has long attracted larger-than-life individualists. Hardy adventurers and prospectors braved the elements to establish mines and homesteads. Today, the park’s hiking trails, over 8,000 rock climbing and bouldering routes, and expansive wilderness provide many opportunities for personal discovery and challenges for those with an adventurous spirit.
