TwHP: The "Power of Place" in the History/Social Studies Methods Course

The following is a three-part guide to infusing "Place" in a Social Studies Methods Courses.

The first part is a summary and introduction to the approach and the course. This is the part I will be reading aloud today. The second is an example of a semester-long course, and the third part is an example of a class period in a social studies methods course that covers place-based education.

The guide was written and prepared by Charles S. White, Ph.D. Dr. White was an Associate Professor at Boston University's School of Education. Recorded by Alyssa Eveland Telling All Americans’ Stories Fellow with American Conservation Experience and the Cultural Resources Office of Interpretation and Education of the National Parks Service.

Note from recording: While this piece was written for those who will be training teachers we believe the overall message contained within is helpful for anyone who will be teaching history at any level. Now lets begin.
