Short hikes and walks near Tupelo, Mississippi are great for exercise and really taking the time to observe nature.  The hikes are easy with a few short inclines on some trails. Walking times on the trails listed below range from five minutes to about 30 minutes. But do not hurry to get to the end of the trail. Explore with your eyes, feel the change of footing under your shoes, smell the aromas eminating from around you. Sit down and experience the passage of time in a forest. The longest hike in this area, the Natchez Trace National Scenic Trail is six miles in one direction. You can choose to do it all up and back for a long hike, or a just a short section. During the summer months be sure to use insect repellent on any trail.

Dogs on leash (6' or shorter) are always allowed on trails. Stop by the visitor center to pick up a B.A.R.K. Ranger booklet and your dog can earn a badge. Insect repellent for dogs is recommended. Please clean up after your dog.

Early morning is a great time to hit the trails. During the winter, the afternoon may be more pleasant. Be sure to be off the trails by dusk.
